Shamrock Classic - 2007
 
         

 

CDSSL Team Wins Tournament

  A team comprised of players from the Capital District Senior Softball League captured the Championship of the Shamrock Classic Softball Tourney held in Pompano Beach, Florida on March 10-11.  
     
  The Capital District Seniors defeated the Sunshine Senior Stallions 14-11 in the semi-final game. The Capital District Seniors were down 10-7 going into the bottom of the sixth inning when they exploded for 7 runs. The explosion consisted of a walk, a single, 4 doubles, and 2 triples. In the top of the seventh inning, the Stallions were held to one run clinching the victory for Capital District.  
     
  In the Championship Game, the Capital District Seniors defeated the East Coast Seniors of Worcester, Mass, 15-2. The big blow in the win was a three-run homer by Capital Districtís Bill Kloc.  
     
  Bill Kloc was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He batted .917 for the tournament. Bill's teammates Joe Romeo and Gino Mullaney were named to the All-Star Team each batting .667 for the tournament.  
     
  Also participating on the team were Howie Bernard, Brad Buchan, Terry Cummings, Joe DiFabio, Gary Hunter, Bob Kibbey, Wally Libudziewski, Wally Lozano, Bill Martone, Jerry Smith and Ron VanDenburgh.  
     
  In March of 2006, the Capital District Seniors finished last in the 11 team tournament, but this year, they captured the crown.
